What Probo collects

When you create an account

your first and last name, and your email address;
your password, which Probo stores only as a one-way scrambled form (a hash), so no one at Probo can read it;
your birthday, used only to check that you are 18 or older. It is never shown on your profile or to other people;
your profile photo, and a short fingerprint of it. The fingerprint describes the picture, not your face, and is compared with other accounts' photos so one person can't open many accounts. It isn't face recognition;
when you agreed to the Terms, and which version.

What you create

Everything you put in Probo: notes, files, tasks, calendar events, finance and forecast entries, meal plans, forms and signatures, credentials, messages, posts, books and conversations with Probo AI.

When you call someone

A record that the call happened: who called whom, when and for how long, and technical details that help calls connect. Probo never records the sound or picture of a call.

When you use Probo

Your IP address, browser and device type, and the times you sign in, in server logs. These keep your account safe, stop repeated sign-in and sign-up attempts, and help us fix problems.

How Probo uses it

to run Probo for you and for the people you share with;
to keep accounts secure and stop abuse, including duplicate accounts;
to send email you need, such as password resets and reminders you set. Probo doesn't send marketing email;
to find and fix problems, and to improve Probo;
to meet legal duties.

Probo shows no ads. It doesn't sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or build an advertising profile of you.

The people you choose. The people you message, call or share with see what you send them. Your name and profile photo are shown to people you connect with in Probo. When you share a credential, whoever checks it sees what it says.
Companies that help run Probo, only to do that work for us: the company that hosts Probo's servers, and the service that delivers Probo's email.
OpenAI, when you connect your own ChatGPT account: your requests to Probo AI, and the parts of your Probo data needed to answer them, go to OpenAI under your account. See Probo AI below.
The law. Probo gives information to authorities only when the law requires it, such as a valid court order, or when it is needed to protect someone from death or serious harm. Probo reports child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as the law requires.
A new owner, if Probo is ever sold or merged, who would have to keep these promises.

Messages, notes and calls

Messages are encrypted when they're stored. Probo holds the keys, so this protects them if the storage is stolen, but it isn't end-to-end encryption. Probo doesn't show the contents of your messages to anyone other than the people in the conversation, except with your consent, as needed to run Probo, to report child sexual abuse material, or in an emergency involving danger of death or serious injury.

Notes you lock with a passphrase are encrypted in your browser before they reach Probo. Probo can't read them, and can't recover them if you forget the passphrase.

Calls travel directly between your devices where they can, or through Probo's relay server, and are encrypted on the way. If you turn on conversation ideas, your device notices only when a call goes quiet; no sound leaves your device for this.

Probo AI

Your conversations with Probo AI are kept in your account so you can return to them. When your ChatGPT account is connected, Probo keeps its sign-in encrypted, and Probo AI sends your requests to OpenAI under that account. OpenAI's own privacy policy applies to what it receives. You can disconnect ChatGPT at any time in Probo's AI settings.

Summaries and maps in News are made from public news articles, not from your personal data.

Keeping it safe

Probo uses encrypted connections (HTTPS) everywhere, stores passwords only as hashes, encrypts messages when stored, limits repeated sign-in attempts, and limits who at Probo can reach stored data. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, Probo will tell you as the law requires.

How long Probo keeps it

Your account and what you create are kept until you delete them or your account. Deleted data leaves backups as they are overwritten in the normal course. Server logs are kept for a limited time. Probo keeps some records longer when the law requires it, or when they are needed to handle a dispute or stop abuse.

Seeing, correcting and deleting your information

You can see and change most of your information in Probo itself.
To correct something you can't change yourself, get a copy of your information, or delete your account and what is in it, message Probo Support in Messages. If you can't sign in, use the contact on the security page.
Messages you sent stay with the people who received them. Deleting your account removes your side and your profile.

Probo won't treat you differently for asking.

Children

Probo is for people 18 and older, and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, tell us and we will delete it.

Tracking and Do Not Track

Probo doesn't track you across other websites, and doesn't let other companies track you on Probo: there are no advertising or analytics cookies. Because there is no tracking to turn off, Probo works the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal. The Cookies Policy lists the few things Probo stores in your browser.

Changes to this policy

If Probo changes this policy in a way that matters, it tells you in Probo before the change takes effect. The date and version at the top of this page show which version you are reading.
